E-Teacher Program
The E-Teacher Scholarship Program is funded through the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, ECA/A/L. E-Teacher offers 7 innovative, online, professional development courses to English as a Foreign Language (EFL) educators in more than 100 countries worldwide, through these two U.S. universities:
University of Oregon, Linguistics Department, American English Institute (UO AEI).
University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

Online Course with "Shaping the Way We Teach English" Materials
The U.S. Department of State Office of English Language Programs, in cooperation with the University of Oregon's American English Institute, is pleased to offer this online course for EFL educators, starting Fall 2006. Modules from the new "Shaping the Way We Teach English" product form the basis for observations, interactions, discussions, and teaching plans. Teams of EFL educators from15 countries throughout the Middle East, Near East and Central Asia are cooperating in this innovative online project.

Africa Online: Using Web Resources to Develop Content-Based Materials course ran from September-December 2001 and highlighted the thematic priorities in sub-Saharan Africa: (1) HIV/AIDS awareness, (2) Entrepreneurship, and (3) Civics Education.

Thai Videoconferencing Series
This 10-part series ran for three years. It was designed for EFL educators in Thailand but is freely available as a tutorial to anyone. It contains lectures, readings, discussion questions and project examples. It was supported by the U.S. Embassy Bangkok, Public Affairs, Office of English Language Programs and by the Royal Thai Distance Learning Foundation; and, developed and taught by the University of Oregon, American English Institute.
